The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) and the Diversionary Work Program (DWP), and the state’s welfare reform programs for low-income families with children. MFIP and DWP help families move forward to helping be workforce ready and self-sufficient. Both programs encourage participant employment by vigorously promoting the financial, social, and psychological advantages of employment.

Financial workers, employment counselors, managers, and support staff encourage work by providing easy access to materials and equipment that facilitate job search and promote positive work messages and success stories.

MFIP/DWP Employment Counselors

Our knowledgeable and experienced MFIP/DWP Employment Counselors offer participants opportunities to connect with our college’s extensive business and educational partners to provide unique employment and educational opportunities. With our offices located in our community campuses, participants enjoy the experience of meeting directly on campus and utilizing internet and computer access and the ability to team up with our college staff about career, technical and degree programs.

In addition to employment service counseling, an extensive two-week workforce readiness program that covers the entire job search process from the resume development, maintaining a positive attitude to networking techniques is available. We invite all statewide county human service departments to meet with us to discuss their employment service needs and to allow us an opportunity to discuss how we can provide our unique but effective approach to self-sufficiency to your community.
